PITTSBURG — Clara Etta Upton, 85 of Pittsburg died at 6:53 am
Wednesday June 17, 2009 at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center
following a short illness.
She was born March 5, 1924 in Mammoth Springs, AR the daughter of
Alonzo F. and Lilly F. (Shupp) Woten.
On March 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Charles Edward Upton
in W. Plains, MO; he preceded her in death on January 29, 1987.
Clara was a homemaker and also worked as a clerk in a drug store in
Thayer, AR.
She was a member of the Wesley House Methodist Church in Pittsburg.
Survivors include 2 sons Carl Dean Upton of Galena, KS and Howard
Wayne Upton of Wappapello, MO; a daughter: Joyce Marie Rader of
Fallun, KS; brother Lloyd Ray Woten of Indianapolis, IN; sister Dolly
Bishop of Mammoth Springs, AR and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step daughter
Shirley Jean Upton and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Friskel
Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. Family will
receive friends at the funeral home at 1 pm before service time.
