Mary Linda Townsend 58, of Franklin, KS died 4:39am Sunday
September 18, 2011 at her home following an illness.
Mary was born July 22, 1953 in Pittsburg , KS the daughter of George
Washington Townsend and Sara Jane Barklow Townsend. She
graduated from Pittsburg High School and received her Nursing Degree
at Ft. Scott Community College . She worked for years as a Certified
Nurses Aide and later worked as a Registered Nurse for several area
nursing homes. She retired from the Heritage Nursing Home in March of
this year. Mary recently made a personal dedication to Jehovah God as
one of his witnesses.
Survivors include a daughter Christy Swor and a son Chad Townsend
both of Franklin, KS; four grandchildren; brothers George L. Townsend
and Donald Townsend; sisters Janet Townsend, Kay Bough and Donna
Hawkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson.
Memorial Services will be 2pm Saturday September 24, 2011 at the
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 4005 N. Broadway Pittsburg, KS
66762 with Howard Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Crocker
Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS . Family will receive friends from 7-8pm Friday
September 23, 2011 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS. E-
