Betty L. Serra 84, of Pittsburg , KS died 12:30am Sunday June 13, 2010
at Sunset Manor Nursing Home following a short illness.
Betty was born November 21, 1925 in Prague , OK to William and Mildred
(Schima) Floyd. She graduated from Prague High School in 1943. She
moved to this community in 1950.
She married George B. Sothern in 1944; he preceded her in death in
February of 1973. She later married Frank Serra in June of 1976; he
preceded her in death in March of 1989. Betty worked as a credit
manager for many area businesses but most notably Montgomery Ward
in Pittsburg , KS .
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Pittsburg ,
KS . She was also active in Bridge Club.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Sipes of Frontenac , KS ;
granddaughters Stacey Shupert and husband Ed of Overland Park, KS
and Nicole Sipes of Joplin , MO ; great-grandchildren John Benjamin
Shupert and Jack Thomas Shupert.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am Wednesday June 16, 2010 at the
Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac , KS with Rev. Verl Strong officiating.
Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg , KS.
In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of
memorials to the Grace United Methodist Church in Pittsburg , KS .
Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Friskel Funeral Home 230 E.
