Jean Lark Hays, 98 of Frontenac died at 9:45 a.m. Friday March 18,
2011 at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg .
She was born November 27, 1912 in Frontenac , KS the daughter of
William Louis and Elizabeth (Thornburg) Vaughn.
Jean was a graduate of Sand Springs , OK High School and attended
2 years of Business College also in Sand Springs.
She married Gilbert Lark he preceded her in death on June 13, 1956
; she then married Boyd Hays in June of 1976, he preceded her in death
on April 26, 1990 .
Jean worked in the college bookstore and was the owner/operator of
Stretch-Knit Sewing fabric shop in Pittsburg .
She was a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church , the
Frontenac American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the Little
Balkans Quilt Club.
Survivors include a son Bill Lark and wife Carol of Minden, NV, two
daughters Vaughn Hobson and husband Carder of Louisburg, NC and
Debby Baima and husband Terry of Frontenac, KS; seven
Grandchildren, eight Great-grandchildren and two Great-great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, both
husbands and a brother Louis Vaughn.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday March 21, 2011 at the Friskel
Funeral Home in Frontenac with Reverend Dennis Johnson officiating.
Burial follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from noon until service time on Monday. Friends may call
