Obituaries
Gladys M. Appino, 89 of Frontenac died at 6:08 am Tuesday, September
She was born March 12, 1920 in Englevale, KS the daughter of Thomas
and Pearl (Karns) Dawson.
On June 29, 1941 she was united in marriage to Joseph A. Appino in
Olathe, KS; he preceded her in death on June 30, 1992.
Gladys and Joseph were the owners of Appino TV and Radio Service for
many years where she worked as the secretary and bookkeeper.
She was a lifetime area resident and was a member of the Frontenac
American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #43.
Survivors include a son Robert J. and wife Susan Appino of Garland, TX;
daughter Sharen and husband Bill Nichols of Round Rock, TX; Sister
Aleen Garrison of Pittsburg; four grandchildren: Austin and Jason Appino
of Dallas, TX, Douglas and his wife Holly Nichols of Wichita, KS and
Christina Nichols of Austin, TX; five great grandchildren: Jack, Nate, Eli,
Antonio and Calvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Brother William
Dawson, five sisters: Dorothy Pugh, Helen Bean, Jean Volz, Norma Brown
and Goldie Morrell.
Graveside services will be 10 am Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the
Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Frontenac with Chaplin Mark Stewart officiating.  
Burial will follow.  Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery for the
services. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on
Friday.  Friends may also call at the funeral home at their convenience
on Friday after 9 am.  Condolences may be left at
www.friskelfuneralhome.com .  Memorials may be left to the Frontenac
American Legion Auxiliary #43.  These may be left at or mailed to the
