History of Friskel Funeral Home
John C. Friskel established the Friskel Funeral Home in
Frontenac, KS in 1917. Mr. Friskel relocated the funeral
home to its current location in 1937. It has undergone
several renovations since, and still retains the charm of
the original structure. John C. Friskel was funeral director
with the firm until his death in 1978. Joe Friskel, funeral
director, and son of John C. Friskel, joined the family
business in 1964 and remained with the firm until his
death in 1984. Paul Friskel, funeral director, and son of
John C. Friskel, joined the family business and remained
with the firm until moving to Iola, KS to where he
purchased a funeral home. Paul later purchased a funeral
home in Chanute as well that he ran for several years and
is currently retired. Paul currently resides in Iola, KS.
David Friskel, funeral director and son of John C. Friskel,
joined the family business in 1961. The Friskel Funeral
Home merged with the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in 1997.
David Friskel retired in 1999, but continued to work at the
funeral home on a part-time basis until 2000. David and his
wife Alice currently live in Frontenac. Funeral directors
currently associated with the firms operation include Joe
Naylor, Kevin Fry, Shaun Jewell, David Grimaldi, Aaron
Overlease, Sally Naylor and Ashley (Naylor) Long.
